ABSTRACT

Acute myocardial infraction with ST-segment elevation (STEMI) is most often caused by the occlusion of only one large epicardial artery. Simultaneous thrombosis of two or more coronary arteries is a rare cause of STEMI. In this article, the authors present a case of a 56-year-old man with STEMI who was diagnosed with simultaneous occlusion of the right coronary artery and the left anterior descending branch of the left coronary artery.

Effect of gold nanoparticle on blood lipid profile test

Cheon K, Ozene N. Effect of gold nanoparticle on blood lipid profile test. Adv Lab Med Int. 2018; 8: 43 - 46.

ABSTRACT

Dyslipidemia is a common metabolic disorder that can be seen worldwide. To diagnose and monitor the problem, blood lipid profile test is necessary. Here, the authors report an observation on effect of nanoparticle on the blood lipid profile test result. A laboratory experiment was done in a medical laboratory. Totally 100 blood samples were used in this experiment. All samples are analyzed by the same clinical chemistry analyzer at the same laboratory condition. Each sample was separated into 2 parts; the first is added with a droplet of gold nanoparticle solution and the second part is not. It can be seen that there is a significant difference of lipid profile test results. In the present day, there are many new nanosubstance that human can expose daily. The interference effect of the nanoparticle on the lipid profile test should be recognized in the present era of emerging nanotechnology. The great concern should be raised when the new nanodrug is used. In fact, the new nanodrug relating to dysplipidemia such as fenofibrate nanoparticle tablet formulation is already used in clinical practice.

ABSTRACT
The cardiac problem is a common clinical problem in medicine. The abnormal
electrocardiophysiology can be seen in any age group of patients and it is sometimes difficult
to diagnose. Here, the authors present a case of a female presenting with the repeated of
episode with unexplained etiology. The case was carefully physical examination checking
and the postural blood pressure alteration was observed. Further investigation showed that the
patient had abnormal electrocardiographic finding. The incomplete right bundle branch block
was observable in the present case.

Radon in natural hot spring pools in Myanmar: overview

Sookaromdee P, Koko A. Radon in natural hot spring pools in Myanmar: overview. Adv Lab Med Int. 2018; 8: 40 - 42.

ABSTRACT

The radon is an important natural source of radiation on earth. The existence in the hot spring becomes an issue in environmental and public health concern. In this study, the authors summarize the existence of radon in hot spring pools in Myanmar, a tropical country in Indochina. Of the 5 studied hot springs, the contaminated level of radon is lower than acceptable cut-off level (range 20,000 to 150,000 becquerels m−3). The rate of hot spring that is considered safe from dangerous unacceptable high radon contamination is 100 %.

ABSTRACT

In Asia and Oceania, the traditional herbal remedy is widely used and accepted as a primary health care wisdom. Nevertheless, the problem of the uncontrolled non-standard remedy is usually seen. Here, the authors report a case study on severe hypokalemia caused by traditional herbal remedy. This report brings attention to recognize the possible problem of the traditional herbal remedies that exists in several countries.

ABSTRACT

Taeniasis is an important cestode infection seen in many tropical countries. The infection in pig and cow is common and the infected meat from those animals is considered not safe for ingestion and this problem is seen in many poor developing countries.  In this report, the authors report the use of Geographic information System (GIS) technology for prediction of bovine cystercosis in a rural area of Thailand in the northeastern region namely Nakornratchasrima province where there are many cow farms. The protocol for GIS prediction is the same as previously used in GIS studies on other tropical infections. First, the data on cow density and prevalence of bovine cysticercosis based on meat inspection from local Provincial Livestock Office and Public Health Office in Nakornratchasrima province were collected and these data were further used for further finding for a mathematical modeling for prediction of prevalence of bovine cysticercosis in this province. From assessment the relationship between prevalence of bovine cysticercosis derived from direct meat inspection and the density of cow population on each corresponding section within the province. According to this study, the final mathematic equation is Y = 5.2 *10-5  X + 4.04 where Y is the predicted prevalence (%) of bovine cysticercosis and X is the number of cow population.  This equation is further used for creation of a specific map to represent the predicted prevalence of bovine cysticercosis (Figure 1). This data is an important local data on the problem of bovine cysticercosis in this area and reflects the requirement for strict food safety management. This technique can also be used for further development of model on cysticercosis in other regions.
