Pancreatic panniculitis

Nguyen H, Dumas P. Pancreatic panniculitis. Case Study Case Rep. 2018; 8(4): 75 - 78.

ABSTRACT

In physiological function, pancreas plays both exocrine and endocrine function. The pancreas
abnormality can result in several clinical problems. The good examples of pancreatic
disorders are pancreatitis and diabetes mellitus. The clinical manifestation of a pancreatic
disorder is very interesting. Here, the author presents an interesting case of a female patient
presenting with abnormal skin lesion. The fat necrosis is defined and the case is finally
diagnosed to be a case of a rare disorder, pancreatic panniculitis.

Keywords: pancreas, panniculitis

Cinnamon induced hepatitis

Mardan N, Tan PF. Cinnamon induced hepatitis. Case Study Case Rep. 2018; 8(4): 72 - 74.

ABSTRACT

Cinnamon is an important tropical plant. The cinnamon’s bark is a well-known spice that has an aromatic condiment. The health effect of cinnamon is interesting. Some researches mention for the usefulness of cinnamon in management of medical disorders such as diabetes mellitus. The possible adverse effect of cinnamon is interesting but little mentioned. In this case report, the authors report and discuss a case of acute hepatitis induced by cinnamon.

Dengue infection with the first clinical chief complaint as palpitation

Mungmunpuntipantip R, Wiwanitkit V. Dengue infection with the first clinical chief complaint as palpitation. Case Study Case Rep. 2018; 8(4): 69 - 71.

ABSTRACT

Dengue infection is an important tropical arbovirus infection that is common in several tropical countries. Mainly, dengue presents as an acute febrile illness with possible chance of hemorrhagic complication. Sometimes, the dengue patient might have an atypical clinical presentation and the case might be difficult for diagnosis. In this article, the authors report a case of a male patient who firstly presented with the chief complaint as palpitation and finally got the diagnosis as dengue.

Electrocardiographic, angiographic and clinical picture of acute myocardial infarction with ST-segment elevation caused by simultaneous occlusion of right coronary artery and left anterior descending artery

Szczeponek P, Goebel M, Włodarczyk A, Królikowski Z, Gierlotka M. Electrocardiograpic, angiographic and clinical picture of acute myocardial infarction with ST-segment elevation caused by simultaneous occlusion of right coronary artery and left anterior descending artery. Case Study Case Rep. 2018; 8(3): 64 - 68.

ABSTRACT

Acute myocardial infraction with ST-segment elevation (STEMI) is most often caused by the occlusion of only one large epicardial artery. Simultaneous thrombosis of two or more coronary arteries is a rare cause of STEMI. In this article, the authors present a case of a 56-year-old man with STEMI who was diagnosed with simultaneous occlusion of the right coronary artery and the left anterior descending branch of the left coronary artery.

Keywords: acute myocardial infarction; STEMI; simultaneous thrombosis of two coronary arteries

Effect of gold nanoparticle on blood lipid profile test

Cheon K, Ozene N. Effect of gold nanoparticle on blood lipid profile test. Adv Lab Med Int. 2018; 8: 43 - 46.

ABSTRACT

Dyslipidemia is a common metabolic disorder that can be seen worldwide. To diagnose and monitor the problem, blood lipid profile test is necessary. Here, the authors report an observation on effect of nanoparticle on the blood lipid profile test result. A laboratory experiment was done in a medical laboratory. Totally 100 blood samples were used in this experiment. All samples are analyzed by the same clinical chemistry analyzer at the same laboratory condition. Each sample was separated into 2 parts; the first is added with a droplet of gold nanoparticle solution and the second part is not. It can be seen that there is a significant difference of lipid profile test results. In the present day, there are many new nanosubstance that human can expose daily. The interference effect of the nanoparticle on the lipid profile test should be recognized in the present era of emerging nanotechnology. The great concern should be raised when the new nanodrug is used. In fact, the new nanodrug relating to dysplipidemia such as fenofibrate nanoparticle tablet formulation is already used in clinical practice.
