In general, COVID-19 vaccination is not recommended for administration at the same day as other vaccination. However, it is sometimes necessary to provide other vaccination. ABSTRACT COVID-19 is the present public health problem. This coronoviral infection starts in Republic of China and causes a big outbreak. As a pandemic disease that can result in mortality, general population usually have a fear for getting SARS CoV2 infection and COVID-19 panic might occur Sometimes, alternative medicine might be used by low educated person for SARS CoV2 prevention. In the present report, the author presents a case of patient presenting with acute hepatitis due to ingestion of Boesenbergia rotunda (L.) Manst. The patient believed that the plant could help prevent COVID-19. At present, several plants are locally claimed for the medical usefulness and used as alternative medicine aiming at COVID-19 prevention. An adverse effect, such as acute hepatitis, might occur and becomes new emerging clinical problem. The problem of herb induced might occur elsewhere during COVID-19 crisis and there is an urgent need for management of promotion of any regimen without scientific proof. Burgada syndrome is characterized by cardiac arrhythmia that is associated with right bundle branch block pattern (RBBB) and ST-segment elevation in right precordial leads. It is believed to be a genetic disorder. However, non-genetic problems have also been reported as a cause of Burgada syndrome. Here, we presented a case of Brugada pattern associated with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). The patient is a 21 year-old-male who presented with DKA and he had clinical feature of Brugada pattern. Case Study and Case Rep. 2021; 11(2): 18 - 27. ABSTRACT Several cases of purple glove syndrome (PGS) have been reported in adults and a few in children. However little or none is known about PGS in children in Africa, including Nigeria, as no known case has been reported in Nigerian children. We describe a case of PGS with compartment syndrome in a Nigerian infant; we also discuss the incidence, risk factors and complications of PGS in children. E.E is a one-year-old girl, who presented with features of severe malaria, shock and severe sepsis; and developed status epilepticus on admission. A single dose of Intravenous (IV) phenytoin was administered using a 24G cannula via one of the superficial veins on the dorsum of the left hand. Swelling of the left hand and bluish discolouration of the left thumb were noticed after 24 hours post IV phenytoin. A diagnosis of purple glove syndrome with compartment syndrome was made. Fasciotomy was performed on her hand; she recovered and was discharged after a prolonged hospital stay of two weeks. PGS can also occur in Nigerian children and it should be considered in all cases of skin discoloration and swelling at intravenous sites following administration of phenytoin. Underlying morbidities, such as severe sepsis, shock, metabolic acidosis, status epilepticus, may be major risk factors for PGS in children. Low index of suspicion by clinicians, unconsciousness and inability to localize pain may be additional risk factors in young children for development of complications such as compartment syndrome. Perinatal Varicella in a Nigerian neonate. Case Study and Case Rep. 2021; 11(1): 7 - 14. ABSTRACT Perinatal varicella results from a DNA virus of the herpes family. It is acquired within 10days of delivery in contrast to congenital varicella whose occurrence is within the first 20 weeks of conception. Mortality is usually high where there are no modern neonatal intensive care and varicella immunoglobulin are not available. The objective of the report is to highlight the non-protective effect in neonatal varicella when infection is acquired within a particular period during pregnancy. Methods: We describe a case of a Nigerian neonate who had features of chicken pox at age of 9 days of life and was delivered by a mother who had chicken pox 4 days before the onset of labour. The neonate developed severe bronchopneumonia, a known complication, and progressively deteriorated till demise in the absence of administration of varicella immunoglobulin. In conclusion, absence of prophylactic acyclovir, delayed administration of therapeutic intravenous acyclovir, absence of administration of varicella zoster immunoglobulin, complication of sepsis and bronchopneumonia contributed to the poor prognosis.
